今、神戸のグループ展 Nagy Independants にてヒアリの作品Esteem - Overtureを展示しているのですが、会期中、在廊できないので、作品の趣旨をここに記しておくことにします。

Esteem - Overture 昨年大きな話題となった外来種ヒアリの日本侵入。私は殺虫剤メーカーに勤務しており、Esteem（エスティーム：尊厳、威信の意）という、海外で実績のあるヒアリ用薬剤の日本導入などの仕事でこの騒動に携わった。ヒアリの不活発な冬になり、騒動はいったん落ち着いたが、これから温かい季節がやってくる。今年もヒアリは日本へやってくるだろう。ヒアリの生命の尊厳、学者や薬剤メーカーの威信、そして外来アリの専門家・写真家としての私の自負、それぞれのEsteemがぶつかり合う。本展では、その序章（Overture）として、ヒアリそのものの姿を示す。学名Solenopsis invicta（攻略できない、強い、の意）が示すとおり、威風堂々のアリである。

Esteem - Overture

There was a big fire ant panic in Japan last year. I, as a member of a pesticide company, contributed to the problem solving by introduction of a renowned product "Esteem" into Japan. The panic calmed down as the winter came, but fire ant invasion will resume as warm seasons come. There will be a crash between fire ant and humans. Each bets their self esteem. I also bet my self esteem as a pesticide professional and photographer to make this project a success. In the current exhibition, I show photos of fire ants themselves as an overture to the whole project.
