フィンボスの花は蜜が豊富で、様々なアリがやってきます。写真はシリアゲアリの1種。シリアゲアリの仲間は日本にもおり、怒るとおしりを上げるのが名前の由来ですが、英語ではおしりの形がハートに見えることから、valentine antなどと呼ばれていたりもします。南アフリカ共和国　サマーセット・ウェスト　Helderberg Nature Reserveにて。
